ferret safe "Ice cream" recipe

after a surprising amount of trial and error (we were over thinking it lol) we finally came up with a great recipe. It's soft and melts like real ice cream and I can't wait to give them some on hot days :)

For this recipe you will need;

a hand or table mixer (I seriously would not recommend doing this by hand)

2 bowls

A fork or whisk

A spatula for baking

A knife or kitchen scissors to chop up your “flavourings”

A freezer

Ingredients;

3 eggs

Salmon oil or cod liver oil

Flavourings (I recommend liver or JR Pet Products pate of your choosing but whatever your fuzzies like)

  1. Separate your eggs putting the white into a large bowl to be whisked and the yolks onto a second bowl or cup.

  2. Using an electric mixer whisk the egg whites. Start slow and gradually put it on as high as possible. Continue until stiff peaks are formed. If using a table top mixer you can continue to number 5 while the mixer does all the work

  3. Break your yolks and mix them until smooth

  4. Add toppings to your egg yolks and mix them

  5. Carefully so as not to knock out the air, fold the yolk and meat mixture into the egg whites. Mix it well

  6. Once thoroughly mixed put into a bowl for freezing and make sure it is left flat

  7. Once frozen completely slowly drizzle oil over the top of the ice cream. It should freeze to the surface while pouring and look like syrup. (That bit isn’t important but it looks better)

Can be served scooped out like real ice cream or in a bowl. Try making small portions in cupcake casings to give a quick scoop or two on a hot day Feel free to experiment with adding oil through the mixture and putting toppings on top

NB raw egg whites contain avidin, and I cannot find information on if the whisking in this recipe would denature it. This binds to Biotin preventing absorption. There is enough biotin in an egg yolk to compensate for this however if not mixed well enough this could lead to deficiencies. For this reason I would recommend always serving with the oil as in this recipe, as this will provide plenty of excess biotin. Likewise, liver is very high in biotin (and other vitamins) hence my recommendation

I have seen a lot of interest about how shows work following the SFCs announcing of their winter show in '22 to take place. As such I've decided to just write a quick post on what to expect at a show
