Goodbye Xzander

Updated: Jun 21, 2019

Xzanders is in his last days. I can feel it. I can see it. I know it.

Even today he’s himself but when he went missing going back to bed before breakfast… yeah. I was worried. Kissed him half to death after finding him and gave him some breakfast alone. I started to see little things and knew. So now he’s snuggled on the blanket on the couch between Gideon, Magic and I, as we await him falling so deeply asleep that he won’t wake. He’s warm, loved and has a full tummy. He'll stay by my side until the end. And I’ve gotten the chance to say goodbye. I can’t ask for more than this peace at the end.

In many ways this marks the end of an era here at Whimsical Kismet. Xzander is the last of his siblings, the last child of his father too, his mother and father both being corner stones in our lines. And Xzander himself being proof of why. He is everything we have been breeding for; the sweetest nature, the most resilient personality, intelligent, kind, and he has lived a long, full life with no health problems, even as his time grows short.

He is leaving many friends behind, not just here but so many who have met him and fell in love. He was always my choice to introduce people to and even came with us on trips to collect kits from further away. He has tried his hand at working, and not shown much interest besides finding the tunnels. He has been the balm that healed my heart after the loss of Gizmo and Spice, my rock as my life fell apart and was rebuilt, and always with me.

He is also leaving behind his son, daughter and granddaughters. Each one a beautiful, kind soul like him. I can only hope we can do his legacy proud. There will be a hole in the lives of all our ferrets, who all made a point of saying hello when they were out playing, even the kits. He really is a remarkable boy.

Sleep well my heart, I love you more than you can imagine xx
